Shopify eCommerce Website Case Study

Shopify Development

In June 2020, during the pandemic’s peak, a product-based online retailing start up approached Rao Information technology to add an online channel and increase their reach nationally for their existing business. We studied the existing model thoroughly to determine the most profitable route for the business. Once we had survey results, our technical, sales, and businesses team thought through all the possible scenarios and their pros and cons. We concluded that going with Shopify would be the best possible solution based on the client’s requirement of flexibility and scalability. Shopify has become very popular among eCommerce stores, and thousands of eCommerce businesses are switching to it to expand their reach from local to regional to national.

How Did We Build Their Shopify Store

We selected the three most suitable themes for our client’s business and presented them to select one of their choices. Next, we confirmed the need for third-party app integration with clients. The next step was to select the most appropriate third-party apps for payment gateway, shipping solution, and SEO according to our client’s needs. When they finalized the theme and apps, we started building their store website. We prepared and discussed the store layout PSD file with the client.

Upon the client’s agreement to the basic structure, we built the website using Shopify liquid code, added necessary functionalities, connected the front-end back-end, order automation, inventory management, and installed the ERP system of the client’s choice. We created silos from general categories to specific product categories. Finally, we organized and optimized site URLs and navigation to achieve optimum Google ranking.

Establish Social Media Strategy

We decided to integrate the client’s website with popular social media channels. We started with the Facebook marketplace and Instagram IDs. We also added a Snapchat channel to maximize reach with teens. We shared insight and recommended to our client that the percentage part of the social media marketing budget should be spent on which occasions based on surveys we conducted earlier. We also identified nano influencers to promote our client’s website.

Google Analytics And Google Search Console Setup

When we were towards the end of giving the final touches to the website simultaneously, we started deploying and linking Google Analytics (GA) and Google Search Console (GSC). Shopify already offers pretty good SEO, but still, we integrated third-party apps to optimize it further. We also increased product visibility. We interlinked GA and GSC in such a way that the store owner can easily analyze the source of traffic and which source is performing to the satisfaction, and the channel that needs more resources to grow further. We also imparted basic training to the client team to keep the system optimally running.

Summing Up

The client’s website was designed to be fully responsive and tested using all web applications and devices. Website navigation and other functionalities worked like a charm on all the devices used to access the site. In addition, we designed multiple web page templates to maintain overall consistency for all types of content. Before going live, we performed alfa testing of the website, and once we were sure that it is clean and smooth, we opened it for customers for beta testing. Finally, our client is very satisfied with our project execution, and the initial reports are also very encouraging.
