Metaverse, Is it the future of Marketing?
In this era of the Internet, unbelievable things are happening. Imagination is transforming into reality. From text to still photos and then videos. The Internet has come a long way and brought us immense opportunities to have an impact on the world. But now it is getting better and bigger than just videos, text, and photos! Now it is time to bring our imagination into reality through a 3D world!
Have you heard about something called METAVERSE? You’ll be thinking oh come on! Who hasn’t heard about it? Anyways, let’s discuss for those who haven’t.
What is METAVERSE?
The Metaverse is a persistent, online, three-dimensional environment that integrates numerous virtual spaces. It may be compared to a future version of the internet. (The one we are calling web 3.0) Users will be able to collaborate, meet, play games, and interact in these 3D environments. Unbelievable yet exciting right?
You’ll be surprised to know that ROBLOX’S metaverse is already popular and has 47 million daily users worldwide and 9 million developers who have built experiences that are also called user generated worlds in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual reality (VR) games.
Virtual reality, which is represented by tenacious virtual environments that do exist even when you’re not online or not playing, and augmented reality, which combines features of the digital and physical worlds, are two technologies that make up the Metaverse.
It does not, however, necessitate that those areas be only accessible through VR or AR. A virtual environment that can be accessed through PCs, gaming consoles, and even phones, such as Fortnite, might be also called Metaverse.
Now, as a marketer, METAVERSE and its unique upcomings excites us a lot. Literally. We cannot wait to see digital marketing and METAVERSE combining and creating miracles for brands in terms of its online presence.
Maybe it’s just because METAVERSE is fresh, exciting and totally unique or maybe because it is the future of online marketing! YES! I mean WHY NOT?
Digital marketing with METAVERSE = Miracles!
The static display and video commercials that pervade the web and social media have gotten old for today’s customers. Rich, engaging, and immersive experiences are what they want. They don’t want to merely be sold to; they want to be a part of establishing your brand, to have a say in what it means to them, to have agency.
Imaging your business being promoted to a Virtual Reality Game and people wearing T-Shirts with your brand’s logo! Boom. It will be amazing. Won’t it?
Creators will be able to create virtual billboards or they might be placing their brand’s logo on a virtual car too! Sounds weird, but guess what? This is going to happen. Imagine something insane regarding digital marketing and you’ll be able to experience it with METAVERSE. Oh I got another crazy idea! How about having a virtual brand ambassador and walks and talks about your business in his community. I guess I am going to implement this for sure. By the way, let’s move ahead.
Individuals are investing significant time and, in some cases, money in virtual-first contexts are critical to the Metaverse’s success. It’s no wonder, therefore, that the majority of early instances revolve around one thing: video games.
For example if we look at the game called Roblox. The platform allows gamers to enter worlds that have been created by other users, leaving the design to the community. They’ve also just begun experimenting with interactive commercials, which provide considerably more flexibility to advertisers than product placements or simply plastering an ad on a static video game level. They build a mixed-media experience that evolves as players go through games, allowing adverts to take on a life of their own.
When we researched, analyzed and understood METAVERSE and it’s upcomings, we realized another unique possibility for digital marketers with the METAVERSE: It can be a new approach to collect data and analyze user behavior.
While online games and realistic digital landscapes have been around for a long time, virtual reality is the newest aspect that is bringing the Metaverse to the mainstream (VR). What was once a clumsy, esoteric technology has found its way into the homes of millions of people and it might be used to help lead retail into a future where physical and digital interactions merge.
There has been a drive in marketing in the last year or two to make it more inclusive and diverse. Despite the fact that 71% of consumers want businesses to encourage diversity and inclusion in their online advertising, the majority of customers (54%) do not feel adequately represented in online commercials, according to a Meta poll.
Brands can now assess engagement the old-fashioned way using virtual and augmented reality platforms . Marketers acquire real-time information about a customer’s tastes and may determine how long they connect with products or entire companies as they spend time viewing or trying on objects in the Metaverse.
With this form of involvement at the forefront of their minds, brands are taking note and adjusting to the meta environment. It’s not only new, tech-focused businesses.
Nike, for example, is looking into virtual storefronts as well as ‘downloadable virtual items.’ They also seek to trademark the swoosh logo for usage in the digital realm in order to protect the brand as the product evolves.
For digital marketers today, no frontier is off-limits. Some fundamentals, however, remain true, Metaverse or no Metaverse. Most importantly, teams must create engaging interactive experiences. If digital marketers can build genuine connections, they will be able to transcend mediums.
What I think is Digital marketing with METAVERSE is going to be at another level because it will help brands convert and generate sales. It will not look like typical marketing. It will be entertaining yet exciting to see how Brands use this large platform to gain the maximum possible benefits.
